Provido or Stockie

We wrote this because Stockie is the app most people compare us with, and the comparison people arrive at from the pricing headline is wrong in both directions. Everything below is checked against Stockie's own App Store listing and can be verified there. Where Stockie is the better choice, we say so.
The short version. If you want low stock alerts and a forecasting dashboard cheaply, Stockie is very good and costs a fraction of what we do. If you want to understand why a number is what it is before you commit money to it, that is what we built.
The price comparison people get wrong
Stockie's listing reads "From 4.99 US dollars a month", and ours reads "Free plan available", so it looks like a twentyfold difference. It is not, because the two prices do not buy the same thing.

Sending a purchase order to a supplier sits on their top plan. So if that is what you need, the real comparison is 59.99 against our 99, not 4.99 against 99. We are more expensive, by about two thirds, and the rest of this page is our attempt to say honestly what that buys and when it is not worth it.
Where Stockie is the better choice
- You mainly want alerts. If the job is knowing when something is running low, their 4.99 plan does that and we have no answer at that price.
- You want a proven app. They launched in 2021 and hold 134 reviews at 4.9, with a Built for Shopify badge. We published in August 2026 and have none of that yet. If track record is what you are buying, buy theirs.
- You need Slack alerts, stock transfers between locations, or bundle support. They have all three. We have none of them.
Where we are different
- Every reorder is explained. Not just a suggested quantity, but the days of cover, the demand it assumes, the lead time, and how confident the forecast is, written out in plain English. When the sales history is thin, it says so instead of quietly guessing.
- The maths is deterministic, not AI. The same numbers always produce the same answer, and every figure is on screen. AI writes the explanation and drafts the supplier email. It never decides what to order.
- No feature gating. Every paid plan of ours unlocks every feature. Our bands are about the size of your business, not about which capabilities you are allowed. You will not discover at month four that sending an order needs the plan above.
- A free plan with no time limit, and 30 days of trial on the paid ones rather than 14. A supplier lead time is often 14 days, so a fortnight is not long enough to watch one order arrive and judge whether the forecast was right.
- A Stocky CSV export imports directly, so your supplier list moves over without retyping.
What we do not do
Worth knowing before you install either of us. Provido does not do stocktakes or cycle counts, stock transfers between locations, POS or barcode workflows, or user permissions. If those matter, we are not the right app and no amount of forecasting quality changes that.
